Holiday Events this December
Happy Holidays from Stark Parks!
‘Tis the season to spread cheer to our neighbors throughout our communities. Join us in December for a handful of festivities to celebrate the holiday season. Some events will require advanced registration. Instructions are listed with each event below.
Donations of canned and boxed food will be accepted at all holiday events to benefit the Akron Canton Regional Foodbank. Needed items include: boxed cereal, peanut butter, and canned tuna, vegetables, beef stew or soup, instant mashed potatoes, grits, canned cranberry sauce, instant gravy, stuffing, and mac n’ cheese.
Deck the Hollow Outdoor Light Walk and Santa Visit
Join Stark Parks and the Quail Hollow Volunteer Association for a lighted walk experience at Quail Hollow Park! The grounds will feature decorated trees, lights, and festive music. Stop inside the beautifully decorated Stewart House for a self-guided tour of one of Stark County’s true gems. Take a stroll down Santa Lane to say hello to the Jolly One and get plenty of photos for the holiday. Guests may get a glimpse of some of Stark Parks’ wildlife ambassadors, the Quails Nest Gift Shop will be open for shopping, and concessions will be available.
The event will be held 8 nights in December 2022, 5 to 8:30 p.m. each evening.

December 16, 17, 18, 19 and 20
Groups of 45 will be allotted time every 15 minutes to enjoy the festivities around a section of the park. Pre-registration is required to ensure entry. $5 per person. Day-of $6 at the door. No refunds will be given. Portions of this program are outdoors, so be sure to dress appropriately.
Here Comes Santa
Join Stark Parks, Stark Library-Perry Sippo Branch and the Perry Rotary Club as we host and welcome Santa Claus to the Exploration Gateway at Sippo Lake Park on Dec. 3, 2022 from 5 to 8 p.m.
Bring your camera for a photo opportunity with Santa as he makes his highly anticipated visit. Children can talk with Santa and visit with costumed characters, make holiday crafts to take home, enjoy music performances, and view holiday lights around the building. Food and drink concessions will be available for purchase. The tree lighting on the back patio will take place at 5 p.m.
The Exploration Gateway is a drop-off location for the Toys for Tots campaign. No registration required for the free event. Portions of the event are outdoors.

Sounds of the Holiday Concert
Get into the festive spirit with live music performed by the Canal Fulton Community Band. The 50 member group will perform A Festive Holiday Concert at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday, December 8 at the Exploration Gateway at Sippo Lake Park. The program will include vocal soloist Joanna Allen, and oboist, Patricia Grutzmacher. International marches, Broadway tunes, and music for the holidays will be performed.

Santa Claws for a Cause
It’s that time of year again! Our wildlife ambassadors are hopeful for some holiday joy (and lots of gifts from their list)! We feature Grimble, the Great-Horned Owl and our very own “grinch” along with other critter “whos” of Stark Parks whoville. Gifts will be distributed to the animals by Santa bringing joy and much appreciated support. The event is free and does not require registration.
