Back the Blue Bass Tournament

Stark Parks presents Back the Blue, a new bass fishing tournament held at Walborn Reservoir on May 16, 2020! Cash prizes will be awarded for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place winners.

There is a 30 boat limit (individual or partnered) and the cost is $50 per boat.

There will be an optional $5 per person big bass contest.

Event Details

Participants must pre-register by emailing Stark Parks Ranger Kyle Burns at kburns@starkparks.com (there is no online registration). The deadline to register is May 9, 2020.

On-site check-in for those already registered runs from 6 to 7 a.m. with the fee being collected at this time. Fishing will take place from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. Weigh in occurs at 3 p.m. with the awarding of cash prizes to follow. Proceeds from this fundraiser will benefit the Ranger Cadet program.

All state and local laws apply. Please see rules below. Cash prizes are subject to change depending on number of boat and big bass entries.

Cash Prizes

(Based on 30 boat entry)

1st Place — $425 (60%)
2nd Place — $225 (30%)
3rd Place — $100 (10%)
Remaining money will go toward the Ranger Cadet Program.

Big Bass Contest

(Based on 60 person entry)

Biggest Bass — $210 (70%)
2nd Biggest Bass — $90 (30%)

Rules:

  • Largemouth and smallmouth bass only (15″ minimum per state law).
  • 10HP limit per state law (larger motors can be used to un-trailer and trailer boat, but during competition, electric motors only will be permitted.
  • Five fish limit per team.
  • Total weight determines money winners. Ties are broken by largest fish within the limit between tied competitors.
  • Courtesy rules apply. No fishing within 75 ft. of another competitor.
  • All fish are to be caught in a conventional manner, hooked within the mouth. No foul hooked fish will be counted.
  • Any dead fish brought to scale will not be counted for weight. Catch and release is preferred.
  • Failure to arrive back by 3 p.m. is an automatic disqualification.
  • Any competitor found to be violating the rules or acting in a conduct unbecoming the profession will be disqualified from the event.
