On Your Own Adventures!

The safety of our park, trail, and program visitors has always been our top priority. While we have made the decision to suspend all public and volunteer programs as well as close public facilities until April 12 for the well-being of all, our parks and trails remain open to enjoy! While we’re encouraging social distancing and self-monitoring, visiting outdoor spaces is a safe way to get out of your home, expend some energy, clear your head, and refresh yourself.

Find a Park or Trail

Trail Users
Take a hike

Lacing up your walking shoes or hiking boots and hitting the trail is a great way to get your walk on! Grab a friend (or two), bring the kids, and leash up your pup to stroll under canopies of pines, along the water, or near your neighborhood. We have lots of natural surface and limestone trails for you to make your own.

Grab your bike

Stark Parks has many miles of scenic bike-friendly trails to choose from, including 26 miles of the Ohio & Erie Canal Towpath Trail in Stark County. Don’t forget your helmet!

Yoga in the park

Practice yoga outside

Consider picking up your mat and taking your practice to a park! While formal yoga classes aren’t happening for the time being, you can still experience meaningful meditation at any one of our parks. Deep breath, take in the scenery, and namaste.

Skip the gym, hit the trail

While traditional gyms involve interacting with machines and equipment, skip the contact for now and take your run (or power walk or lunges) to the trail! You’re sure to enjoy exploring the scenery on a variety of trails. Find loop trails, long distances, and out-and-back routes to help you train, destress, or simply enjoy.

Bird watching at Quail Hollow ParkBecome a birder

…or if you’re a seasoned birder, continue to enjoy the hobby you love! Parks and trails all across Stark County offer many unique bird watching opportunities. Popular spots include the Ohio & Erie Canal Towpath Trail and Walborn Reservoir. Find etiquette and beginner tips here.
