The 1.57 mile limestone trail loops around two different ponds and through a wooded section with access points at Shallowford Dr. and Forestview St. in the Saratoga Hills allotment in Plain Twp. Listen and look for frogs calling and jumping around the water, deer moving through the trees, and an osprey hunting for fish in the ponds.
Use a small five car gravel parking lot from Werner Church Rd. and turn on Boettler St. to Saratoga Hills Dr. (please don’t block the gate) or the additional north parking lot at Plain Township’s Al Leno Park to begin on this trail following portions of the Nimishillen Creek. From Al Leno Park, two on-road neighborhood roads provide access to the trail. Travel NE on Northview Rd from the parking lot at the back of the park and turn left (North) on Forestview. The trail entrance will be on the left before Spring Walk Dr.
