Deborah Long

Friends of Stark Parks Trustee
Deborah Long currently serves as the Assistant Director of the Louisville Public Library where she leads the communications team, manages the volunteers, and special projects of all kinds, including the nationally recognized Sensory Space at the Library. She has a BA from the University of Mount Union in Art and English, and an MA from the University of Akron in Rhetoric and Composition. She lives with her husband of 30 years, two grown children, and various critters in Louisville.
Now that her children are grown, Deborah uses her time to advance things that are important to her including education, the outdoors, and community. Being a trustee checks all of these items off for Deborah and offers her a chance to share her skills and experience in public relations and promotions.
Deborah spends most of her park time at Quail Hollow Park walking the trails with her husband. They enjoy how it feels very far away from civilization in some spots of the park with bird calls all around. Call it shinrin-yoku (forest bathing), she cites how restorative it is being out among the trees and critters in different seasons.
Deborah's also eager to get back to kayaking at Walborn Reservoir. Her retirement plan is to kayak at Walborn most mornings, so getting in better shape in a dozen years when that happens is goal! In the short-term, she hopes to visit every Stark Park location at least once.
