Status Alert: Rockhill Bypass Closed due to Nearby Construction and Hunting Season
The Rockhill Ave. bypass trail will be closed for several months beginning while construction occurs near the sewer treatment plant. Construction equipment will be in close proximity to the trail for the Rt. 225 bridge removal project between Gaskill and Rt. 225 boardwalk. Please use caution in this area. Please wear bright clothing while hiking and biking the Mahoning Valley Trail during hunting seasons. Private property near the trail does allow hunting.

Begin at Deer Creek Reservoir or Gaskill St. and use a 260-foot free span bridge to cross a spillway, a 100-foot boardwalk under Rt. 225, and an on-road section using Greenbower St. and Rockhill Ave. The trail connects to the Iron Horse Trail at Vine St. and follows city sidewalks through downtown Alliance before meeting the old railroad route under E. Broadway Ave. and heading south toward State St.
This 4.46 mile scenic trail offers fishing access to the Mahoning River and a great view of a bottom land hardwood forest. Spring flowers are abundant along the trail and include jack in the pulpit, false solomon’s seal, and swamp buttercup.
The Mahoning Valley Trail has been adopted by the University of Mount Union-Green Raiders, the club sponsors cleanup projects along the trail throughout the year.

The Stark County Park District prohibits the use of motorized vehicles in this park and on its trails. Sections of trail may not be suitable for wheelchair access. Weather may impact the accessibility of trails, always use caution. Class 1 e-bikes are permitted to ride on multi-purpose trails (crushed limestone or asphalt). E-bikes are not permitted on natural surface, equestrian, or mountain bike trails. A class 1 e-bike is a bicycle equipped with fully operable pedals and an electric motor of less than 750 watts that provides assistance only when the rider is pedaling and ceases to provide assistance when the bicycle reaches the speed of 20 miles per hour.
