Quail Hollow Park Connector Trail Grant Received
Stark Parks is excited to announce that it has been awarded $473,000 in Clean Ohio Trail grant funds to support the development of the Quail Hollow Connector Trail. This project exemplifies the Clean Ohio Trail Fund’s mission to expand and enhance Ohio’s trail infrastructure by creating new opportunities for recreation, connectivity, and community engagement.
The Quail Hollow Connector Trail will serve as a multi-use pathway to connect the Lake Township Community Park to the Hartville Memorial Park. The inspiration for this project began with Hunter Yost, a 9th grader at Lake Middle/High School. Hunter entered a local writing contest in 2023 where she advocated for a bike and pedestrian connection to Quail Hollow Park, emphasizing the importance of improving accessibility and fostering community connections.
“Trail development has always been a cornerstone of Stark Parks’ mission, and this grant brings us closer to achieving our vision of a connected and active community,” said Dan Moeglin, Executive Director. “We are deeply grateful to the Clean Ohio Trails Fund for their support and for recognizing the importance of this project.”
“This grant represents a remarkable investment in our community’s infrastructure, enhancing connectivity and promoting outdoor recreation,” said Chip Weisel, President of the Lake Township Chamber of Commerce. “By linking Lake Township Community Park, the Stark Parks wetland, GentleBrook, and Hartville Memorial Park, this project will provide residents and visitors with a seamless trail experience, fostering health, wellness, and appreciation for our natural spaces.”
“We are very excited to be working with Stark Parks to bring additional outdoor recreational opportunities to the residents of Lake Township,” said Jeremy Yoder, Lake Township Trustee.
Construction planning for the Quail Hollow Connector Trail is expected to start in 2025 with an anticipated date of construction in spring 2026.
