Rain, thunderstorms, and flooding can be hard on trails. Visitors are encouraged to check for updates before their visit and to follow all posted trail and parking area closing signs. For safety reasons, trails are closed to all users while trail crews are using equipment to complete repairs and maintenance. The following list reflects the most up to date trail closings and construction projects as of Sept. 12, 2025. Expect rough conditions after any flooding or storms.

Status Alert: Class 1 and 2 E-Bikes are Permitted on Improved Trails Only.

Boating & Marinas

Status Alert: Final Weekend for 2025 Boat Rentals

The Walborn and Sippo Lake Marinas will be open on Sept. 20 and 21, 2025 from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. This will be the final weekend of the 2025 season.  

Congressman Ralph Regula Towpath Trail

Status Alert: Towpath Trail Surface Work in Progress

Sept. 2, 2025: Trail surface work will be ongoing between Forty Corners Trailhead and Butterbridge Ave. with no access from the Crystal Springs Trailhead. Please follow all trail closure signage, barricades, and instructions by Trail Crew members or Park Rangers. Trail users can use the Olde Muskingum Trail on the west side of the Tuscarawas River as an alternative route around the section. 

Deer Creek Reservoir

Status Alert: Hunting Seasons in Progress

Several hunting seasons are now underway. Trails remain open during hunting. Please wear bright clothing while hiking and biking the Mahoning Valley Trail. Stark Parks issues permits to allow waterfowl hunting at designated areas around Deer Creek and Walborn Reservoirs during the fall and winter.

Hoover Trail

Status Alert: Trail Closed Between 10th St. and 7th St. (North Canton Hoover High School area)

A school construction project has closed several sections of the Hoover Trail near Hoover High School.  These include between 10th and 7th St., a second closure south of 7th St. will also close the trail between 7th and Taft Ave., and short-term closure through Oct. 1, 2025 between 10th St. and Chapple Hill Dr. where the Hoover Trail connection to Sanctuary Grande begins.  (bridge crossing the Nimishillen Creek)

Sippo Valley Trail

Status Alert: Upcoming Bridge Replacement Project

Sept: 8, 2025: Bridge replacements along the Sippo Valley Trail continue. Bridge #11, located between 17th St. and Lincoln Way/Towpath Trail in Massillon will be replaced beginning Sept. 8, 2025. The trail will be closed between Bottoms Park in and Lincoln Park (just west of downtown Massillon between 17th St. and 6th St. NW) Bridge closed ahead will be noted with signage at 17th St.  There will not be a posted detour.

Walborn Reservoir

Please note that the Bingham Property located west of Marlboro Ave. and north of Allen Dr. that has previously allowed hunting will not be an open hunting area in 2025-26 as construction and restoration are still in progress.
