Rain, thunderstorms, and flooding can be hard on trails. Visitors are encouraged to check for updates before their visit and to follow all posted trail and parking area closing signs. For safety reasons, trails are closed to all users while trail crews are using equipment to complete repairs and maintenance. The following list reflects the most up to date trail closings and construction projects as of June 8, 2026. Expect rough conditions after any flooding or storms.

Biking & Hiking

Status Alert: Only Class 1 and 2 E-Bikes are Permitted on Stark Parks trails. 

Congressman Ralph Regula Towpath Trail

Status Alert: Construction Crews and Work near Craig Pittman Trailhead area

June 24, 2026: A contractor will be working near the Towpath Trail and Craig Pittman Trailhead for several weeks that may require periodic trail closures.  Please follow all signage or barricades in place.  

Deer Creek Reservoir

Status Alert: Hunting Seasons in Progress

Several hunting seasons are now underway. Trails remain open during hunting. Please wear bright clothing while hiking and biking the Mahoning Valley Trail. Stark Parks issues permits to allow waterfowl hunting at designated areas around Deer Creek and Walborn Reservoirs during the fall and winter.

Hoover Trail

Status Alert: Trail Closed Between 10th St. and 7th St. (North Canton Hoover High School area)

A school construction project has closed several sections of the Hoover Trail near Hoover High School until further notice.  These include between 10th and 7th St. and south of 7th St. to Taft Ave.  A marked trail detour using neighborhood sidewalks is posted.  

Magnolia Flouring Mills

Status Alert: Rt. 183 Sidewalk and Road Work in Progress

The entrance to the Magnolia Flouring Mills off Rt. 183 will have variable conditions while sidewalk and road work is happening.  We do not recommend using this entrance until construction is complete.

Petros Lake Park

Status Alert: Trail Work on Meadow Trail

Expect a trail closure throughout June 2026 on the Meadow Trail for trail grading work.

Quail Hollow Park

Status Alert: 100 Years at the Hollow Fundraising Campaign

The Mountain Bike Trail now has a daily directional pattern with a sign at the Trailhead.  Bikers travel left (clockwise) on Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturdays and travel right (counter clockwise) on Monday, Wednesday, Friday, and Sundays. Hikers should walk in the opposite direction.

Sippo Lake Park

Status Alert: Boat Ramp Closures

Sippo Lake Boat ramp will be closed on July 17 during the Night Fishing Derby from 3 p.m. to Close and July 18 until 3 p.m. once the Summer Splash event ends.
