Rain, thunderstorms, and flooding can be hard on trails. Visitors are encouraged to check for updates before their visit and to follow all posted trail and parking area closing signs. For safety reasons, trails are closed to all users while trail crews are using equipment to complete repairs and maintenance. The following list reflects the most up to date trail closings and construction projects as of Sept. 26, 2025. Expect rough conditions after any flooding or storms.


Biking & Hiking

Status Alert: Only Class 1 and 2 E-Bikes are Permitted on Stark Parks trails. 

Boating & Marinas

Status Alert: Marinas Now Closed for Season

Walborn and Sippo Lake Marinas are now closed for the 2025 season.  See you next year.  

Deer Creek Reservoir

Status Alert: Hunting Seasons in Progress

Several hunting seasons are now underway. Trails remain open during hunting. Please wear bright clothing while hiking and biking the Mahoning Valley Trail. Stark Parks issues permits to allow waterfowl hunting at designated areas around Deer Creek and Walborn Reservoirs during the fall and winter.

Hoover Trail

Status Alert: Trail Closed Between 10th St. and 7th St. (North Canton Hoover High School area)

A school construction project has closed several sections of the Hoover Trail near Hoover High School.  These include between 10th and 7th St., a second closure south of 7th St. will also close the trail between 7th and Taft Ave., and short-term closure through Oct. 1, 2025 between 10th St. and Chapple Hill Dr. where the Hoover Trail connection to Sanctuary Grande begins.  (bridge crossing the Nimishillen Creek)

Magnolia Flouring Mills

Status Alert: Rt. 183 Sidewalk and Road Work in Progress

The entrance to the Magnolia Flouring Mills off Rt. 183 will have variable conditions while sidewalk and road work is happening.  We do not recommend using this entrance until construction is complete.  

Petros Lake Park

Status Alert: Restroom Project Underway

A new restroom is now under construction near the north entrance. During construction, sections of the Loop Trail in this area may be closed at times.  The parking lot (at north/main entrance) may also be closed temporarily.  Please follow all posted signs and barricades for your safety

Quail Hollow Park

Status Alert: Hunting Seasons in Progress

Fall and Winter 2025-26: Deer Archery Season will allow bow hunters areas of the park through a qualified lottery system. Trails remain open during hunting. Please wear bright clothing while hiking, mountain biking, and horseback riding in the park.

Sippo Valley Trail

Status Alert: Upcoming Bridge Replacement Project

Sept: 8, 2025: Bridge replacements along the Sippo Valley Trail continue. Bridge #11, located between 17th St. and Lincoln Way/Towpath Trail in Massillon will be replaced beginning Sept. 8, 2025. The trail will be closed between Bottoms Park in and Lincoln Park (just west of downtown Massillon between 17th St. and 6th St. NW) Bridge closed ahead will be noted with signage at 17th St.  There will not be a posted detour.

Walborn Reservoir

Status Alert: Hunting Seasons in Progress

Several hunting seasons are now underway. Trails remain open during hunting. Please wear bright clothing while hiking and biking the Mahoning Valley Trail. Stark Parks issues permits to allow waterfowl hunting at designated areas around Deer Creek and Walborn Reservoirs during the fall and winter. Please note that the Bingham Property located west of Marlboro Ave. and north of Allen Dr. that has previously allowed hunting will not be an open hunting area in 2025-26 as construction and restoration are still in progress.

Wildlife Conservation Center

Status Alert: Wildlife Center at Full Capacity

Sept. 19, 2025: The Wildlife Conservation Center is at full capacity and cannot accept injured animals at this time.  For a list of other facilities please use this link.  Please note raccoons are not able to be accepted or rehabilitated due to Rabies cases in the region.  This is a State of Ohio guideline we follow.
