Mary James

Friends of Stark Parks Trustee
Mary James has worked at the Timken Company for 15 years and is currently a Project Manager. Community involvement has been important to Mary and is an active committee member on the Timken Habitat for Humanity build sites for over ten years, also participating as the Chair. She also volunteers on the Pro Football HOF parade committee and at the Akron/Canton Foodbank each year. She enjoys playing volleyball and swimming whether in the pool or open water at Meyers Lake all year long, but mostly she can be found hanging with her family and dog.
Mary believes that it is important to have safe, clean areas for nature exploration in the community and Stark Parks offer so many places and ways to do that for all ages. Leveraging her project management and organization skills, Mary wants to help the board achieve their goals, no matter big projects or small initiatives.
Walking the trails at Sippo Lake Park with visits to the Wildlife Conservation Center and Tam O’Shanter Park offer variety to her park escapes and a chance to sit on a bench and listen to the sounds of the park. Being around water has a calming effect, so having the ability to walk around, sit by, or even rent kayaks something she loves. Mary has also volunteered for events including parkrun and Summer Serenades concerts.
